Intro...
So I have finally decided to do it... I've decided to become a blogger.
For such a long time I have wanted to set up this blog. I have contemplated over and over in mind what I was going to blog about and I always came back to the same thing.... D.I.Y.
I just love looking at something and seeing how it was made and then challenge myself, if whether or not I could recreate it at home. Well in some cases I did and in others, well lets just say it wasn't meant to be.
I am sort of kicking myself right now for not starting this blog earlier and show some of my creations. I really wish I did, so at least I would have an online catalogue detailing my trial and errors and an inventory of some of the stuff I have enjoyed making over the last couple of years with the kids (I have two little girls).
I'm a sucker when it comes to stuff I read online, I either read about or will see something and try giving it ago at home. Sometimes it will work and we will all gain some enjoyment out of it or most of the time it would be a massive flop, but I intend on sharing all of that right here on my blog.

My first blogger project...
(Please forgive the poor layout and pics, hopefully they should get better in time and with more practice)
D.I.Y. The Moustache Necklace
I've seen these necklaces everywhere so decided to make my own and here's how I did it....
You will need....
Felt
Scissors
Old necklace chain
Fabric glue (I recommend gem-tac)
Rhinestones- Silver and Black
Paper/pencil
Toothpick and some play dough
Step 1...
Start off by drawing your template onto a piece of folded paper
Step 2...
Cut out the template
Step 3...

Place template over felt
fold the felt in half and then fold the template
and cut out
leaving you with the felt moustache (you will need two of these)
Step 4...
Take the chain from the necklace
Fold in half and cut
Step 5...
The tricky bit... you will need to open up the bottom link and pierce a hole through the felt using your scissors and then loop the link through the hole (it can get fiddly, all depends on the size of link) then close the link using the scissors.
Step 6...
Time to decorate
You can use any method to decorate your moustache, i decided on using some rhinestones (i had some leftover from when I added some sparkle to a pair of heels).
Apply the glue
Take your toothpick with with a small ball of play-dough stuck to one (makes it easier to pick up the gems)
and start applying the gems
Step 7...
Leave to dry
When dry take the second piece of felt moustache from earlier and sew onto the back, it will just provide a little more structure and hold the tash in place
Step 8...
Enjoy your necklace

Hope you enjoyed my first post and return when i take on some more projects.
Take care
